Powder Coating vs Wet Paint: Which is Better for Your Enclosure?
Compare durability, cost, environmental impact and finish quality.
When you specify an enclosure finish, you have two main choices: powder coating or wet paint
Powder coating: dry powder sprayed electrostatically, cured at 200°C
Advantages: thicker film (60-80μm), more durable, no solvent VOCs, consistent finish, less waste
Disadvantages: higher setup cost, limited texture options
Wet paint: liquid paint sprayed and baked
Advantages: unlimited colors and textures, lower setup for small batches
Disadvantages: thinner film, less durable, solvent waste, more VOCs
For most industrial enclosures, powder coating is the standard
It's more durable, better looking, and more eco-friendly
Wet paint is reserved for special textures or color matching
